Apply steady, progressive tension instead of pulling sharply. Veevus 16/0 is strong for its size, but ultra-fine threads perform best with controlled pressure, especially around delicate materials like CDC, hackle stems, quills, and soft dubbing.
To split the thread, untwist it slightly counterclockwise and use a bodkin or fingernail to separate the two-fiber strand. This creates a clean, low-bulk way to trap CDC, fine dubbing, or small fibers directly in the thread.
Because the thread is extremely thin, finish the fly with a small whip finish and a micro-drop of head cement or UV resin for added long-term durability.
