Veevus Pearl Tinsel

Veevus Pearl Tinsel is a flat, translucent, pearlescent fly tying material designed to add bright shimmer, subtle color shift, and durable flash to a wide range of freshwater and saltwater fly patterns. Its multi-angle pearl finish reflects light beautifully in the water, making it an excellent choice for nymph flashbacks, wing cases, ribbing, streamer accents, baitfish bodies, shrimp patterns, and attractor flies.

Built with impressive strength for a flat tinsel, Veevus Pearl Tinsel resists snapping, fraying, and breaking under tight wraps. Whether you are tying small midges, Rainbow Warrior-style nymphs, caddis emergers, flashy wet flies, or translucent streamer bodies, this material adds a clean iridescent trigger without unnecessary bulk.

Why We Like It

Veevus Pearl Tinsel gives fly tyers a strong, easy-to-wrap tinsel with excellent pearl flash and plenty of material per spool. It is bright enough for attractor patterns but translucent enough to layer over thread, floss, dubbing, or colored underbodies for more natural depth. We especially like it for wing cases, flashbacks, ribbing, and streamer bodies where durability and light reflection both matter.

Size Guide

Small — 1/64" / 0.4mm - Best for midges, small nymphs, delicate ribbing, fine flashbacks, and slim bodies. Fine enough to use directly in a standard bobbin holder for smooth, controlled wraps.
Spool Length: 30 meters

Medium — 1/32" / 0.8mm - A versatile all-around size for nymph wing cases, flashbacks, emergers, wet flies, streamer accents, and general fly tying use.
Spool Length: 20 meters

Large — 1/16" / 1.6mm - Best for larger streamers, baitfish bodies, shrimp patterns, saltwater flies, bold wing cases, and bigger attractor patterns.
Spool Length: 11 meters

Tying Tips

For the cleanest finish, wrap Veevus Pearl Tinsel over a smooth thread, floss, dubbing, or colored underbody. Because the material is translucent, the base color can shine through and create more depth, making it useful for imitating natural under-skins, segmented insect bodies, baitfish scales, and shrimp shells.

Use steady, moderate tension while wrapping so the tinsel lays flat without twisting or creating ridges. The Small size can be loaded into a standard bobbin holder for smooth continuous ribbing, bodies, or underbodies.

For high-wear areas like wing cases, flashbacks, and wrapped nymph bodies, add a tiny drop of UV resin, head cement, or cyanoacrylate to lock the material in place and increase durability.

Customer Reviews for Veevus Pearl Tinsel

I mainly plan to use it to provide some sparkle/flash to my soft hackle patterns and zonker bodies. I like the effect it creates.
