Use a high-quality ceramic bobbin when tying with Veevus Kevlar Thread. Kevlar fibers are abrasive and can groove, damage, or cut into lower-quality metal-tube bobbins over time.
When spinning deer hair, apply firm but controlled pressure. Kevlar is strong enough to pull extremely tight, but too much tension can saw through hollow deer hair fibers instead of simply flaring them.
Keep sharp scissors nearby for trimming. Unlike standard nylon or polyester fly tying thread, Kevlar does not easily snap by hand and should be cleanly cut for the best finish.
