Neon UNI-Floss is a bright, high-sheen fly tying floss designed for creating bold color accents, smooth bodies, fluorescent tags, and strike-triggering hot spots. Made from 2-ply, 600 denier trilobal polyester, this floss delivers radiant shine and vibrant neon color that stands out in stained water, low-light conditions, and fast-moving currents.
Strong, glossy, and versatile, Neon UNI-Floss is an excellent choice for tying low-water wet flies, classic streamers, soft hackles, salmon flies, steelhead patterns, Euro nymphs, and trout jigs. Use it whole for bold color and durability, or split the two plies for a finer, smoother profile on smaller hooks and more delicate fly patterns.
Neon UNI-Floss is a great material when you want a fly to have a clean body with extra visibility. The fluorescent color creates a strong focal point without adding bulk, making it perfect for hot spots, tags, butts, tails, and ribs. We especially like it for salmon and steelhead patterns, as well as modern nymphs and jigs where a small flash of neon can help trigger strikes.
Neon UNI-Floss is ideal for tying:
For the brightest results, build a smooth white or light-colored thread underbody before wrapping Neon UNI-Floss. Because trilobal polyester can be slightly translucent, a clean underbody helps the neon color stay vivid instead of darkening when wet.
Use light, steady tension and smooth touching wraps for the cleanest finish. On smaller hooks, split the floss into individual plies to reduce bulk and create a finer body. To keep the strands manageable, tie a small overhand knot at the end of your working length while it is still attached to the spool.
