Honduras Bonefish

Honduras Bonefish

Bonefish average two to four pounds at Gunaja and our biggest of the trip was nine pounds which is an incredible sized bonefish any where. Flies for Guanaja bonefish need to range from light to medium in weight (adjust eyes size when tying to get proper weight or buy them accordingly). Weedguards are important on all of your bonefish fly patterns and permit fly patterns. Some favorites are Sili Legs, Mieheve's Flats Fly and Bonefish Mai Tais. Some of these bonefish flies have weedguards on them already but the guys at Guanaja will tie weedgurds on your bonefish flies and permit flies that don't already have them.

For permit fly patterns one of the best is the Wyatt's Kung Fu Crab in both tan and olive as there weed flats and light bottoms. You want to try to match colors of your flies to the bottom color you are fishing. Rag Head Crabs are a favorite as well as Brown's Permit Crab.
